Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What type of therapy do you provide?
I provide individual therapy 100% virtually, making it convenient and accessible for clients across California and New York, where I am licensed. My approach is evidence-based, warm, and practical—drawing on years of experience in hospitals, correctional facilities, and large healthcare systems. Sessions focus on helping you feel better, think clearer, and live with more purpose.
Who do you work with?
I work with adults of all genders and backgrounds. While I have a particular interest in men’s mental health and high-performing professionals, I also see clients dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship challenges, burnout, and identity concerns.
How much do sessions cost?
My session rate is $300 per 50-minute session. I am a private-pay practice and do not accept insurance directly. Some clients may be able to use out-of-network insurance benefits, and I can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement.
Do you take insurance?
I do not bill insurance directly. However, many clients successfully use their out-of-network mental health benefits to get partial reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm coverage. I will provide documentation to support your claim.
How are sessions held?
All sessions are conducted online through secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing, so you can attend therapy from the privacy and comfort of your home, office, or anywhere you feel comfortable.
Where are you licensed to practice?
I am licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in California and New York. This means I can only see clients who are physically located in one of these two states at the time of their session.
What is your background?
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and completed my graduate training in California. My professional background includes work in a wide range of clinical and organizational settings, including:
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation
The California Regional Center
Kaiser Permanente hospitals and clinics
Specialized areas such as GI psychology, forensic psychology, and large-system mental health care
This diverse experience allows me to bring depth and flexibility to my therapy practice.
What issues do you help with?
Some of the common concerns I help clients address include:
Anxiety and depression
ADHD and focus issues
Stress management and burnout
Relationship and intimacy challenges
Identity, belonging, and cultural stressors
Trauma and adjustment after major life events
Health psychology (e.g., GI disorders, chronic illness)
What makes your therapy unique?
Clients often describe my style as direct, compassionate, and grounded in real-world experience. I combine deep clinical training with practical strategies that clients can use immediately. My background working in prisons, hospitals, and large health systems informs my ability to handle both everyday struggles and complex cases.
How do I get started?
You can begin by scheduling a consultation session. This gives us a chance to talk about your goals, answer questions, and see if working together feels like a good fit.
How long will therapy take?
The length of therapy depends on your goals and the challenges you want to address. Some clients find meaningful change in a few months, while others choose longer-term therapy. We’ll decide together what pace and duration make sense for you.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is one of the cornerstones of therapy. Both California and New York have strict laws protecting the privacy of psychological services, and as a licensed psychologist in both states, I am legally and ethically bound to safeguard your information.
The only exceptions to confidentiality occur if there is:
Risk of harm to yourself or others
Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult
A court order or legal requirement
Outside of these circumstances, your information is not shared without your written consent.
Do you follow HIPAA regulations?
Yes. I use HIPAA-compliant video platforms and maintain secure records to ensure your information is protected. You can expect the same level of privacy and professionalism as you would in an in-person office.
What if I live outside California or New York?
Due to licensing laws, I can only see clients physically located in California or New York at the time of their session. If you travel often between these states, we can continue therapy as long as you are in one of them during our scheduled time.
Can I use therapy notes or records in legal proceedings?
Therapy notes are highly confidential and not the same as medical records. Courts typically recognize their sensitive nature, and I will not release them unless legally compelled. If you are involved in a legal matter and believe therapy records may be requested, we can discuss this in advance.
